Artist Statement

Materials inspire me - a carload of empty Arizona Tea cans my son and

his high school friends collected in the back of his Isuzu, a discarded

encyclopedia (thrown away by my husband who NEVER throws away a book),

old National Geographic Magazines in an attic, scraps of beautiful silk.

I enjoy taking these materials and using them to explore particular ideas or

compositions from a variety of perspectives.  My art is inspired by color and

relationships, both personal, political, and in nature.  I use techniques traditionally

used in fiber art in non-traditional ways - weaving aluminum or pages from a

book, making a dress that has more meaning than just a fashion statement.

I have always had a drive to experiment and make unique things with my hands.

Art is one of my languages for expression.
